Main Description
The website update was done only 3 years ago but it failed to encompass all that ACS Pubs had to offer. The last redesign didn’t involve stakeholders so it was a singular vision rather than a shared vision. The redesign would feature ideas and thoughts from the major departments that comprise ACS Pubs. This will create a web experience that lets users know the different offerings of ACS Pubs. A one-stop-shop for users to find out about publishing.

The business problem
Why it was a problem, to begin with.
The website was a problem because it didn’t represent all the different departments of ACS Pubs. Making it harder for users to find the information they’re looking for. In many cases, they had to search because it wasn’t present on the homepage. The homepage design didn’t gather internal voices and failed to provide a place for different departments to be discovered or mentioned. The redesign was going to remedy that problem by giving different departments their own space and sections.

Reflections on the experience
What would you change looking back?
Looking back at it I would have liked to have had all the requirements before we started the mock-ups. The scope and the project often evolved or grew. I would build and layout one element only to be told that it wasn’t going in the right direction or that it should be rebuilt. This sort of direction caused the project to take a lot longer. Every new idea had to be designed, iterated on, and then content added. Towards the later stages that same design then needed to be applied to Tablet & Mobile.
